I was talking to my good friend last night about using psychic protection before going to any investigation and I was wondering if that was something that other groups think about or is that something that only Pagans and Wiccan think about?

I know that they make a big deal about it on Paranormal State, and that the group is generally Christian, so SOME do, at any rate. Being Pagan, my instinct is to shield, but I wonder if the shielding might not interfere with the results.

from what I have found, no it does not. My friend was in a ghost hunting group in our area and she witnessed a scratching. The woman that was scratched is known for always being protected. That was kind of what lead to my asking. If someone who was faithful about protection can get scratched, what happens to others who don't bother with it?

The reason some people use psychic protection is not so the spirit cannot touch them, it is so that the spirit or inhuman does not leave the area it is in and follow you home. I have used this sort of protection almost every time I have been on investigations. One of the only times I did not do it, I had a little girl spirit follow me home. The basis is this. You envision yourself in a white light. A light so bright that you cant even see yourself in its radiance. Keith Johnson taught me how to do this and every time I have used it it has worked. I hope this helps.

LOL I know how to do it, But thanks for answering Brian, that is awesome!
I was more wondering if it was something that other groups believed in and used or not. Being Pagan, I do not go anywhere without protection, and not even just ghost hunts...there are living people that we need to protect ourselves from! lol

Thanks, natgrace. I have some shields that are so natural to me that I'm not sure I can drop them anymore, but have been hesitant about adding additional ones, as well. I'll do it now.
Gads, Jamie...you're as bad as I am...sometimes what I read and hear is SO much more intriguing that what was actually written or said...

So Brian, how long before you knew you had company? How long did she stay?
The fear of something following me home is what keeps me from investigating. I am one of those people who lives in the realm of "that's never happened before/that wasn't suppose to happen." I am also one of those people that attract the seriously disturbed, animals included.
While I understand that protecting yourself should prevent the follow home phenomena, I'm not so sure that it would. The last thing I need is to be followed home by a seriously disturbed spirit.

I don't mean to nit-pick but something was bothering me. Natgrace asked was it something that only Pagans and Wiccan think about? Wiccans are Pagans but not all Pagans are Wiccans. Sorry, that's just a pet peeve I have.
By the way, I agree with Brian. He gives a great example of how and why psychic protection is used.
