Just one males opinion, but if that's what they were after it wasn't successful.....lol....I would rather see qualified investigators (Male OR female) than just having someone to fill a target audience quota. Not saying that's exactly what they did, but.....Donna, she was good on the show. I liked Donna's style and approach.

The same logic for putting extra girls on the show, if we accept that it is (at least in part) done to increase male viewing/rating, may be similar to why they gave Lara Croft ginormous b00bs in Tomb Raider: they are targeting a market audience that may be male-dominated and want to generate interest and revenue. Is a similar approach for television-based ghost hunting good for paranormal research overall? The question is up for debate.

I wonder why GH now check fewer and fewer home hauntings? In the beginning they said they wanted to help families in need, now they do nothing but famous places, including their own Inn? Whatever happened to bringing peace of mind to the everyday families who can't sleep because of the nightly disturbances? I like GH but they have changed.

I'd say that was a SyFy call. And for all we know, they DO still do private investigations, but not on camera. There's a LOT we don't see.
Back to reruns...on with GHI

My favorite episodes were from the first two seasons. There seemed to be more debunking and less "Haunted" conclusions back then. Now, it looks like if a location is any type of business, it's more apt to get the "Haunted Seal of Approval". So I do miss the old GH and the original TAPS members, Brian, Donna, the Johnson twins, and Andy.

I guess a profitable business being haunted must be far more important to SYFY, or whomever, then children being able to sleep peacefully in their own beds at night. Maybe TAPS still does investigate home hauntings here and there, but SYFY should show them as well.

But what's happening is the show is losing what it's original premise was, which is how TAPS helps others get to the truth of what is happening in their homes. If TAPS was all about "helping" businesses financially through tourism, the show should have aired on the Travel Channel.

Ahh, bring back the good old days.. I'd be curious to learn why others (from the older seasons) left the show.

Things do tend to change, and to evolve, and people with families and full time jobs sometimes have to move on. I will continue to watch and enjoy both the original GH, and GHI, and to be as involved with the work that Brian is doing now, as well. I was thrilled when Brian turned up on GHI, but understood entirely that a new baby takes a LOT of time, if you want to be a hands-on daddy, not just a father. This new venture lets him continue his interest in and investigation of the Paranormal and STILL be there for his family in a way that involvement with a televised team couldn't. I so agree with what you said, it takes a lot to be a new parent, I love the work Brian's doing now, I still watch both GH and GHI and love both shows.

I must agree. Brian and Andy brought a lot to the show. The two girls...well, I think they're only on board to attract the male audience to benefit SyFy's ratings. Just my 2 cents. I couldnt agree more!!!

I think as the show evolves, there is a struggle to not sell out to the people who quit watching the show because, as they said, "They never find anything." These are comments by people longing to be entertained, not one of us..... I'm trusting in the overall integrity of Jay and Grant to NOT sell out. I have also come to understand through my own investigations, that abilities and giftings also evolve and turn up our capacity to attract, which could account for there being more to watch now than people simply stumbling around in the dark. It's been an honor to "grow up" with the show.

I miss Donna and Brian as well. They both brought so much to the show, and made it more watchable. My husband and I continue to watch the shows, but it is with a notice of the lack of both. Donna has a very sensible approach and it is our opinion (humble that it be) that one of the things lacking with Brian's absense is the finding of spirits. As we watch the reruns we have noticed, I don't know if others have noticed this as well, that the shows with Brian in them contained more evidence of spirit encounters. The spirits seem to come and communicate more when he is involved. Interesting. Has anyone else noticed this?

I think Brian and Donna are definitely missed on the show. We actually had Donna on our radio show and she has to be one of the nicest people I have ever met. When those 2 left, the show seemed to be more commercialized if you ask me.

When those 2 left, the show seemed to be more commercialized if you ask me. We have talked about this in our group. GH just doesn't seem the same anymore. The GH Academy never did sit real well with me for some reason, I don't know if I just felt like the show was just there to capitalize on all the interest now or not. After talking to Donna I really think GH may either have or is getting ready to jump the shark. Which is too bad, in the beginning I used to be able to use some of the episodes to help train new members. I do wish they would get back to doing some more residential investigations as well.
