This is a bump, But i am unaware of the program they use but give Audacity a try. Works great and it's free.

Soundbooth if you have the money or Audacity, if you're on a budget (free)! Also, SoundSoap will give you the ability to clean EVP's like a pro, while you kick back with a sandwich!

I've had Cool Edit Pro for years. I agree that Audacity is a decent piece of software, but I like the scientific capabilities of Cool Edit personally. Where I only use the software to determine the level of the recording and all segments in it and occasionally amplifying the segments I can disregard all the other enhancing features for EVP analysis for the most part. Personally if I can't hear the suspect EVP with my own ears clearly I disregard it as evidence (unless of course it is a noise that was heard during the investigation and documented before playback).
It's next to impossible to get Cool Edit anymore as their parent company Syntrillium sold the software to Adobe (Adobe Audition ), but it's still out there if you dig and search.

I agree with Silver. Wavepad may seem generic but it's very easy to use and I find it gives great results!

BPI uses "Sony Sound forge audio studio 8.0" you can buy it at office max. It has all the bells and whistles that you would want for superior audio editing. we also use "AoA audio extractor" for converting MVI and AVI files to WAV format ( extracting audio from video). you can get this audio extractor online for free. We have used Adobe Audition 1.5 through 3.0 with pretty good success. It can be a little pricey though.
