I've always been a believer in the paranormal (mainly ghosts/spirits) but throughout the years I've managed to find natural explanations for most of my experiences except for a few. But one really sticks in my mind. One house I lived in for 18 years is where I've had the most encounters. The most reoccuring thing was stair walking. From the time I moved in to 15 out of those 18 years, we had a "stair walker" that would either walk up or down a flight of stairs that went from my kitchen to the second story. If you stood there, you can hear each stair as if something is ascending or descending them. This happened either in the day or night so there was no set pattern to it.
Has anyone had any experience like this or managed to debunk it?

I actually encountered that as a child. After talking with home builder friends of mine in the past about what I had heard they told me that a staircase is one of the weakest constructions of the house which when the house "settles" the weakest areas will make noise first. After many years of use they weaken even more to the point that when any kind of siesmic or natural movement (wind) will cause these noises even other people walking in other rooms will cause the "settling" sounds, this is also true around high traffic areas of the house. So I asked them why it sounded like foot steps and they said that settling is like vibrations, it moves away from the source so if the settling started downstairs it would sound like someone walking upstairs, vibrations causing the movement of each step going upward thus making noise for each. Is this a fact? I dont know but its a great theory.

Thank you, TNSpirits Celtic! That does sound like a very plausible and logical theory.
