Well, as I said in Meet and Greet, my third investigative group is coming in on the 18th. The first one I had came in 2002 -- they got EVP and some orbs, which I question, but they didn't come with the same kind of equipment that's out there seven years later. Late in April, a group from Oklahoma came up and they heard the footsteps on the stairs, and what sounded like a man clearing his throat upstairs. Lots of personal experiences but apparently nothing conclusive on audio/video.
I've lived in this almost 100-year-old house for 10 years and I've had shadows, footsteps, shoulder and head-tapping, doors opening and closing, lights on and off, TV's changing channels, voices, that creepy being-watched feeling (not near any high EMF), object movement, white shadows, everything but a full body apparition.
It used to scare me, but it doesn't anymore. I have periods where they don't do anything for weeks or months at a time, and then boom! furniture will be moved, or voices will be heard or cupboards will be standing open.
When my daughter lived with me, she couldn't get anybody to sleep over because they were scared of what might happen. I've had friends leave abruptly because they got the distinct "we don't want you here" feelings. A friend of mine (a police officer) was watching the house one time because my daughter and I were out of town; he was using the computer upstairs, and somebody kept knocking on the computer room door. Every time he got up to check it out, there was nobody there. After three times, he shut off the computer and told me that, he would watch the house again, but he would only come in to feed the dogs and let them out and then leave.
The incident that had me call in the first team back in 2002 was that the dog food bag that I leave out in the laundry room would always roll itself down. I'm a bad dog mom -- I scoop and go and don't close the top of the chow bag. My daughter wasn't doing it, and it kept happening, so one evening I told her we were going to do an experiment. We both went into the laundry room, we actually moved the bag to another spot and both verified that the bag was wide open. We went to a restaurant for dinner, which took a little over an hour, and when we came back, the bag was rolled down. I picked up the bag and said to nobody in particular to please stop doing this, it was scaring us. It stopped and never happened again, but I still called the group in for help.
I believe I have a residual who walks up and down the stairs all night (I learned to go to sleep with the TV on to cover the sound) but the other(s) are intelligent ... when I ask them to stop doing something, they stop.
At first I thought I was crazy, or imagining things, but things just kept happening. Some things are repetitive, others aren't. That's the challenge for any investigators. I can't say there's one hotspot or another in particular. Something has gone on in every room of the house. And I've spoken with some people who also lived there, or who spent considerable time there, and they've all had similar experiences, like the pocket door pulling itself out, or the closet door under the stairs standing open, etc.
Usually you don't see it happen, but you may hear it, or you find it the next morning, like the kitchen clock that has hung above the door to the laundry room for 10 years that apparently launched itself off its nail (which was not bent down or on the floor with the clock) onto the floor in the kitchen. The battery popped out at 4:46 a.m. We never heard it, but there it was. The only time I've actually seen something was at sometime after 2 in the morning, something woke me up. I wasn't sleeping well anyway, waiting for my husband to get home from work, and I was laying there and the doorknob to my bedroom door turned and the door swung open. I thought "oh good, he's home" and waited for him to come through the door, but of course, he wasn't home yet. I got up and looked in the kitchen and living room and dining room but nope, he wasn't there. I wasn't sleeping -- I got up and walked around looking to see if he was there, then used the bathroom.
This past Saturday, sometime between 2:00 am when we went to bed and 8:11 a.m. when I got up, something/someone opened all but one of the doors to the entertainment center. Then Sunday morning, I got up to find a piece of plastic that had been on top of the fridge laying in the middle of the kitchen floor. There's really no way it could've fallen like that. I'm thinking it's because I've been stripping wallpaper in the kitchen and whenever I do some redecorating, I get activity.
Hope this wasn't too long and/or boring!
