Not sure if this belongs here or not, but I experienced what I think was astral catalepsy once and it was extremely frightening. In my experience, it was the devil holding me down, and it was very real. Sleep paralysis is definitely NOT what I experienced. Does anyone know about this?

Ordinary catalepsy is not exactly the same as sleep paralysis and is usually connected with medical conditions; its characterised by a lack of response to external stimuli and often the body is rigid. Its most commonly found in conditions such as schizophrenia and epilepsy, as well as a connection with hypnotic trances. Some people say that astral catalepsy is just another word for sleep paralysis. I am in no way an expert but your experience sounds very much like sleep paralysis due to the lack of other accompanying phenomena usually associated with astral catalepsy and the fact that the majority of people who have had sleep paralysis associate it with the Devil/demon/evil presence.
